Tēnā koutou!

Welcome to the home of South Featherston School, a semi-rural primary school on a mission to ensure 'every learner leaves our school with a passion for learning and a kete of strategies to use in every area of life.'

Our vision is to foster creative, concerned and connected, life-long learners.

Our Whakapapa

In the fertile valley of the Wairarapa, east of the Remutaka Ranges, west of the Tauherenikau river and just north of Moana Wairarapa, sits the rural community of South Featherston - and our school, where a classroom has existed since 1898. It's a setting that has always connected our learners deeply to the natural world and that tie remains today, reflected in a strong environmental focus in our curriculum - whether learners come from local farming families and whānau, or from the nearby town of Featherston... and even beyond!

In 2016, South Featherston School became an EnviroSchool, and we continue to build our environmental knowledge together, seeking to better understand and improve the ecology of the natural systems we interact with - as individuals, as a school, as a community and as a society.

Stay up-to-date

One of the easiest ways to see what our school is up to is to like our Facebook page.

We also have 'by invitiation only' pages for each of our three classes for parents and whānau to keep up with how our junior, middle and senior rooms are going. If you would like to be invited to one of those more private pages, please get in contact with us!

Supporters

We've received some amazing assistance lately reshaping our School yard including our new Sensory Garden and repurposing our old disused pool as a bike track. We're eternally grateful for the goodwill and support of these local businesses.
